Researchers at HP labs have found that Twitter mentions on the site can be used to predict how well the movie will do. The astonishing part is that the new Twitter method is actually more accurate than the method that is currently in place! Various movies have been tested so far, totaling 24 movies in all. In order to have a high influence on Twitter, it is not necessary to have a large audience. Reseachers have come to this conclusion after analyzing accounts concluded that accounts with a large number of followers are considered popular but not really influential.
